Europe - Portugal

Description

Of the People's Porto to the green Sintra, city of gardens and villas, Evora - the -Moorish vineyards in the Douro, Portugal focuses on a small area many wonders! If parts of the coastline, especially the Algarve coast has paid the arrival of mass tourism to the high price of concrete, nature remains unspoiled and beautiful in many parts of Portugal. Open to the world, original, warm, this ancient maritime power has a discrete charm contrasting readily with Spain, its exuberant neighbor. And what of Lisbon, the capital, at the western tip of Europe, pleasant and quaint, modest and capricious, secret and dynamic.

Tavira : It sits on both sides of the river Gilão, linked by four road bridges, a train bridge and an ancient pedestrian bridge. The city is most famous for its churches – there’s loads of them, though nobody quite agrees on the actual number.

Lunch at your own charge.

Ria Formosa Natural Park : is of particular importance to bird life: as a breeding ground for many species, as a wintering ground for many birds from northern Europe, as a resting and feeding station for birds migrating between Africa and Europe, and as a habitat for several species threatened elsewhere in Europe. The park is also important for its rich salt-resistant flora and as a breeding ground and nursery for many marine species.

The Algarve capital : Faro city. Offering some 200km of dramatic golden coastline, protected natural parkland, a whole host of historical, archaeological and architectural gems and some of the best recreational facilities available in Western Europe, it is little wonder that the Algarve has gained the popularity it enjoys today.
